Peace as a Way of Life
It is often said that a person truly becomes wise upon reaching the age of forty. My own connection with the Qur’an also began at this stage of life. Before that, we simply followed the teachings passed down by our elders.
Then began a phase of reading the Qur’an with understanding. The Qur’anic tafseer lectures of Dr. Israr Ahmed (may Allah have mercy on him) felt as though they struck the windows of my mind open. On the other hand, my father (Munib-ul-Kabir), through his words, awakened in me a deep desire to truly know the Deen. It was then that this reality became clear to me: Deen and religion are two different things, and the word “religion” is not used at all in the Qur’an for Islam.
Islam is a deen—a way of life—whose teachings were first conveyed by Prophet Noah (AS) and continued by all prophets and messengers after him. It is the Deen-ul-Islam given to all humanity, with Prophet Abraham (AS) as its leader and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the final messenger, sent for all mankind.
This deen has been preserved in Allah’s final book of guidance, with the declaration that this book completes the divine guidance and that it is easy to understand.
My effort is to convey this message to people of all religions: if we truly want to make this world a place of peace-where life, wealth, and dignity are protected, basic needs are fulfilled, and people live peacefully in a clean environment while using their abilities positively—then we must learn to live together.
Whatever your beliefs may be, a system must be established that ensures safety and peace for everyone. You may call yourself by any name, but in the sight of the Creator of the universe, you are a “Muslim” if you are working for peace and safety.
Join me in this struggle to spread these teachings and to help make this world a cradle of peace.
